Expert Heating Service in Harlingen TX
There’s only one way to do the right thing
Heat pumps handle both heating and cooling for the Rio Grande Valley’s mild winters and long summers.
Winter Storm Uri in 2021 showed Valley homeowners that heating systems can fail when temperatures drop fast. A heat pump that cools all summer can switch modes in minutes when a cold front arrives. Ecotech also installs and services Ruud, Goodman, and Lennox heat pumps sized right for the South Texas climate.

Common HVAC Questions for Harlingen Homeowners
Real questions and straight answers
The most common reasons an AC stops cooling in Harlingen are low refrigerant, a dirty condenser coil, or a failed capacitor. Valley summers push systems hard, and these parts wear out faster when the compressor runs nine or more months a year. Ecotech Heating & Cooling can diagnose the cause and get your system back to cooling the same day in most cases.
Most AC repairs in Harlingen fall between $150 and $1,500 depending on what broke. A capacitor swap or refrigerant recharge sits at the lower end. A compressor or evaporator coil replacement costs more. Ecotech provides a free estimate before any work starts so you know the price upfront.
Warm air blowing from vents, weak airflow, water pooling near the air handler, the unit clicking on and off too quickly, and a sharp rise in your electric bill are all signals your system needs attention. In the Rio Grande Valley, a clammy house even when the AC is running often points to a refrigerant issue or an oversized unit that’s not pulling humidity out of the air.
Twice a year is the right call for most Valley homes because the AC runs nearly year-round. A spring tune-up before peak heat and a fall checkup keep coils clean, refrigerant properly charged, and capacitors tested before they fail on a 100-degree day. Skipping annual service in this climate shortens equipment life noticeably.
Look for a Texas TDLR-licensed contractor, EPA 608 certification for refrigerant handling, and real Google reviews from local customers. A licensed company can pull permits and is accountable to the state if something goes wrong. Ecotech Heating & Cooling is state-licensed, EPA-certified, and has over 60 Google reviews from customers across the Rio Grande Valley.
If your system is under 10 years old and the repair is under half the cost of a replacement, repair usually makes sense for a Valley home. If it’s 15 or more years old, runs on R-22 refrigerant, or keeps breaking down, replacement saves money over the next few years. Ecotech gives honest repair-or-replace guidance and offers financing on new systems with approved credit.
Water near the air handler usually means a clogged condensate drain, which is common in the Valley because high humidity sends a lot of moisture through the system. A frozen evaporator coil that’s thawing can also drip onto the floor. Ecotech Heating & Cooling can clear the drain and check for the underlying cause before it damages your Harlingen home’s floor or ceiling.

Details make all the difference
AC Maintenance
AC maintenance in Harlingen isn’t optional when your system runs nine-plus months a year. The Gulf humidity that blankets Cameron County loads compressors, clogs condensate drains, and corrodes condenser coils faster than most climates. Ecotech Heating & Cooling covers coil cleaning, refrigerant charge checks, capacitor testing, and blower inspection, so small issues don’t turn into costly repairs. Anthony Longoria has 18 years of trade experience and backs every service with a satisfaction guarantee. Learn more about AC Maintenance here.
Heating Contractor
Heat pumps are the natural fit for Harlingen heating. South Texas winters are short and mild, but the 2021 freeze showed the Valley how fast a cold snap can turn serious. Ecotech handles heat pump installation, repair, and maintenance for both homes and businesses. We’ve served the Rio Grande Valley since 2018. Our techs are state-licensed under Texas TDLR’s ACR contractor program and EPA-certified for refrigerant handling. Learn more about our heating contractor services here.

Financing is available with approved credit, and every install carries a satisfaction guarantee. Over 60 Google reviews back our work. Explore AC Installation system options here.
